A Family of Three Ready to be a Family of Four
Charlie and I are happy to share our story with you….
Our Family
We met through a friend of a friend in 2018. Presently, we have a beautiful, soon to be five-year old daughter named Elodie and a sweet dog named Oliver. We are so excited to add another child to our family.
Elodie is a child from surrogacy and was born healthy in November of 2018. At age 2, we were getting concerned about her mobility so we saw a specialist. She was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in the fall of 2019. Currently she is showing great progress in physical therapy and can walk with braces or assisted. We are extremely proud and invested in her progress.
A Typical Week
A typical week for our family consists of a healthy work-life balance for Charlie and me. We work Monday through Friday and reserve Fridays for family days and time to finish out the week. We enjoy eating at new restaurants, going to the Farmer’s Market, baking, and participating on school activities. On the weekends you may find us at my parents’ farm, camping, playing in the backyard, or going to an event in the city. Some of our hobbies include cooking, community events, hosting family and friends, gardening, entrepreneurial business ideas, and playing cards.
Traditions
Some of our favorite traditions include traveling to Michigan each summer, traveling to Brian’s parents’ farm each spring and fall, camping and boating on Lake Shelbyville, IL every summer and hosting a Holiday party each year. We coordinate our neighborhood Halloween parade each year, and enjoying going somewhere special for New Year’s Eve.
Charlie owns a salon, and it is a big part of our lives, and we value each of the employees. We are active with their families and really feel it is important to support each one of them as much as they would like. This July was 12 years of Charlie has owning his own business.
I grew up on a farm in central Illinois that we all enjoy and went to the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign for my Bachelor’s in Crop Sciences and went to Iowa State for my masters in Seed Technology and Business. My life has been revolving around agriculture and I hope to continue.
Both Charlie and my families are active in our lives. We surround ourselves with accepting and loving individuals. We hope to grow our family with one more child to make us a family of four and make a difference wherever our lives lead us.”
